The village of Rocamadour

It is well worth the journey (fast road up the A20from Cahors) to the River Alzou to see Rocamador. Halfway up the rock face (leaving your ar at the entrance to the city) enjoy walking past Rocamadour's splendid houses with their wonderfully shaped rooves. At the end of the main street is the begining of the Grand Escalier a huge staircase which leads to the shrines. From the top after admiring the view from the chateau go back down by lift to the medieval city.
